UPDATE:
Once again we opted to do a redesign of some of our favorite characters, I somehow ended up in a world where Samus Aran, from Metroid, fought in WW2 for the allies.
This was a lot of fun, after I got started it was hard to stop which is a great sign.
I'll post a quick progression later this week. Make sure to check out Carlos V's. entry and check back for more updates as other friends and colleagues upload their Nintendo/ WW2 mash ups.

Wow this is AMAZING! Thank you for redeeming Samus's bad ass rep!
good character. I like more your wall_e !!
Um. Considering Nintendo is a Japanese company ... wouldn't all their heroes be fighting FOR Japan, not against them?
Don't get me wrong, it's a great piece of art ... it just doesn't make _sense_ to me, for her to be sporting the American Star-and-bar, instead of Imperial Japan's Rising Sun.
Thanks Guys!
Sean: Thanks for the kind words but just to clear things up: Kotaku mis interpreted our original concept.
It was simply to Re-imagine Nintendo characters in a WW2 setting, NOT to draw Nintendo characters from an Imperialist Japanese WW2 perspective.
@sean : I think that's a bit deeper than most people would probably think. Video game characters seem more international to me.
My favorite character of all video games. Thx for this.
All 3 of these are amazing.
I would love to see Soviet Red Army Mario T-34 Tank pilot(come on red clothed proletariat hero? Its asking to be made!)
Another idea is Link as a US naval officer, he already has great command of boats and other seafaring vessels in Windwaker and Phantom Hourglass.
Cads: Thanks for the positive response! The reaction online to this post has been really awesome.
Solidus: These are all great ideas. I toyed around with the idea of doing a Link and Mario so keep an eye out for more in the future!
Make sure to check out the newly created store and pick up a print( or two)
